Did a quick drive around the park as we were going through the area. The spring was a pretty little spot. There were several cabins. Would love to go back and hike. It seemed to be clean. You MUST visit the Chocolate Factory which is nearby.
We are from Arkansas and stumbled onto Dixon Springs while trying to find a good viewing area for the total eclipse. We had several places in mind, and we picked this one. And we are so glad we did! I have to say "well done" to everyone involved in making this event memorable. Thank you, Illinois and Dixon Springs (and we can't forget The Chocolate Factory), for welcoming all of us "aliens" to your state. The hospitality you have shown meant a lot and guarantees more visits to this beautiful place!
Plenty to do for kids beautiful view
Nice little park, with some nice scenery. Found beautiful snakes and a sweet red fox while I was there. The trails are tough to access and parking a bit confusing. The pool looks super old and very old school, but for a more rustic vacation it would do.
Youth tent camping area has the worst latrines I have ever had to use.
